VRANA LAKE - Nature Park (Tuesday, 26. September 2017.)

    Working hours: 08:00-20:00
Vrana Lake is the largest natural lake in Croatia. It is an extremely shallow lake (2-5 m), and since its bottom is below and its surface above the sea level it is also a cryptodepression. Being located in the permeable karst, through which the sea water penetrates during the low lake water level periods, it is slightly brackish. Combination of Mediterranean and wetland landscape is most evident in the richness and colors of plants, which is dominated by large reed beds at its shallowest north-western part. Wetland habitats are home to many birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians and insects in all their diversity. 256 species of birds have been recorded so far, while for the endangered species of purple heron and pygmy cormorant this is one of the few breeding sites in Croatia.

Free Entrance: Children under 7 years
